Why you should serve sherry - Telegraph
Whisky for the men, sherry for the ladies: in some circles sherry is still thought of as a drink to serve at funerals. Abel Lusa, as you might expect from a Spaniard, albeit one who comes from Rioja rather than Jerez, where sherry is made, takes a different view.
He has just opened a bar that is dedicated to the appreciation of this still-under-valued wine. Capote y Toros is a tiny little place on Old Brompton Road in south-west London but it has such an excellent sherry list it makes most wine lists look lazy.

Weekend breaks in Porto: How the ancient city became a fashionable contender | Mail Online
Porto is a European city that literally gets lost in translation. The Portuguese pronounce it 'Portu' while we often refer to it as 'Oporto'; probably due to the fact locals originally used the definitive article O-Porto - the port - which we misinterpreted as its name.
Romantics prefer another explanation; insisting the confusion arose long ago when foreigners misread the evenly spaced stencilled letters on the side of wine barrels being shipped down the River Douro - after all, one of its greatest exports is port wine.
However, I think it's probably thanks in part to Jose Mourinho bringing FC Porto to European prominence that this ancient city suddenly seems to have become a fashionable contender for the ubiquitous weekend break.
We've loved Porto for a long time... :)

Quinta de Infantado: The Terroir From A to E
There is much to be said about honesty, for real wine and real winemaking. Porto is a landmine. Here's why.
Estate-Bottled Porto remains a marginal part of the production. Shippers account for 95% of all Porto sales. Infantado was the first estate to domaine bottle in the Douro, breaking the monopoly of the shippers in the late 70's.

Incredible Basque Dishes in Paris - Patricia Wells
Sébastien Gravé and David Bottreau are quite a duo. With Les Fables de la Fontaine, they’ve created a one-of-a-kind fish restaurant with a true personality. And you’ll feel as though you’ve hit the jackpot if you arrive on a warm, sunny day and dine on the compact terrace facing the fountain on Rue Saint-Dominique. (Though it would be nice if they could hide the garbage cans.) Thanks to Gravé’s Basque heritage, the menu is slanted towards specialities of France’s southwest, including a ttoro, or Basque fish soup.
Though I've never actually eaten in Paris, I can now say that this is on my list of places to visit. Make sure to click on Patricia Wells link to read the full article!
